WHAT WE ARE
As the POP-CULTURE TIME MACHINE, Peekaboo Gallery offers extraordinary curation of 20th Century popular culture art, antiques and collectable memorabilia. Through theatrical exhibitions, auctions and direct sales, we offer a unique marketplace for both buyers and sellers of the rare and unusual.
We aim to source from the best private collections and present them in a fresh way to the public. Think of our offerings as a hybrid of an art gallery, an antique store and a museum all wrapped up in a website and traveling exhibit.

Whether it’s an incredible piece of early dentistry equipment on our web store or the most complete collection of Giant Robot memorabilia to be offered at auction, the wide range and unique perspective of what we carry defines Peekaboo as a destination for the unusual.
WHAT WE OFFER TO CONSIGNORS
We understand there are many passionate collectors out there who have assembled a lifetime collection and are now looking to divest.
We work with collectors and estates to find a new audience by exhibiting these pop-culture collections in a fun and engaging way. With our well-rounded store selection and our pop-up exhibitions and sales, the general public can have access to some of the finest collections in the world, by people who have spent a lifetime assembling them.
We aim to bring both the expert and novice together. We are an alternative to standard dealers, eBay and auction houses.
HOW WE DO IT
Through our well curated website and our customized, theatrical presentations, we create a celebration of the given genre and aim to open new interest on dormant fields of collecting. We source from all over the globe. Private sales, in-person auctions, barn house picking and selective consignment means we can bring you some of the most unusual and fresh-to-the-market items. When we select a theme for an exhibition and sale, we reach out to authorities and experts in the given field of interest to create a unique opportunity for both seller and buyer.
WASN’T YOUR STORE LOCATED IN OLD PASADENA?
Our initial ‘pop-up’ location was in Old Pasadena for a limited time.  We held our first two exhibitions at this wonderful location.  The second phase is to hold regular, traveling ‘pop-up’ exhibitions and auctions in thematically appropriate locations. WHAT ARE OUR EXHIBITIONS?
Peekaboo Gallery occasionally will stage a themed, experiential exhibition of a given subject in a pop-up location. There, visitors and interested buyers can experience the featured artifacts in a contextual setting. Events and discussion panels accent these exhibitions to celebrate the people and culture surrounding the topic on display.
Whether it’s a runway-couture fashion show of stewardess uniforms for our Airline exhibit or a cast and crew reunion from a beloved television show, the Peekaboo pop-ups offer an immersive journey for its visitors.

THE AUCTIONS
As part of the Peekaboo Gallery Pop-Up Exhibitions, the shows will culminate in a live auction event. Bidders in our live audience along with participants all across the globe can have access to all of the artifacts featured on display. The excitement of live, absentee, online and phone bidding are all available to public. See our website to register for our newsletter and to receive pre-approval for bidding. From time to time, Peekaboo will also hold online ‘Pop-Up Micro Auctions’. These exciting mini-auctions will happen with a random announcement in an e-newsletter and on on social media, usually, within a few days of the event. These will be targeted, themed sales which should be a fun, mid-week chance to get your bidding game on! More details coming soon!
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
At Peekaboo, we’re looking for anything that falls under interesting popular culture of the 20th Century. We gladly accept anything from a single, unique item to a number of different pieces. Peekaboo Gallery is great platform for you to either consign or sell direct. We are especially on the look out for long-time collectors of a given subject. If you’ve assembled a passionate, lifetime collection and are looking for a partner to frame a creatively tailored presentation of that treasure, please consider us! We LOVE discussing your obsession because we’re obsessed too!
DO WE BUY?
The answer is yes. We are very selective of what we do purchase outright for no other reason than we may already have a similar item or it doesn’t quite fall under our cannon. Submit any items you are interested in selling as jpeg images with an approximate size and description. If we are interested we will get back you shortly.
SHIPPING
DO WE SHIP?
In general, the answer is yes. Shipping for one-of-a-kind antiques is very difficult to automate on a website. So many factors go into estimating the amount to properly pack and ship, we have opted to take care of shipping in a separate transaction, after the item has been purchased. We want to ensure, that your new treasure gets to you in the safest, most economically responsible way. Unlike many antique websites on the internets, we refuse to guestimate or overcharge our customers for shipping.
For small and manageable items, we do pack and ship with either FedEX Ground or USPS. However, most of the items in our store are fragile, oddly shaped or oversize. In those cases, we will hand the items over to one of our preferred shipping partners once it is paid for. For especially unique cases, we depend on NAVIS Pack & Ship to handle custom boxing and crating. For large arcade games and the like, we use Beltman Group who specializes in the prep and shipment of coin-op games and devices. IN ALL CASES, EITHER CONTACT THE GALLERY DIRECTLY FOR SHIPPING QUESTIONS OR PURCHASE THE ITEM TO RESERVE IT AND WE WILL CONTACT YOU WITH SHIPPING INFORMATION.
CAN I PICK-UP IN-STORE?
Peekaboo is now strictly online and roaming as a pop-up Gallery. Although we do have a warehouse in Los Angeles, we are in general, not open to the public. Please contact us for any special requests and if we can accommodate, we will! We also use local courier services. Contact gallery for further details.
I PURCHASED AND CHECKED OUT ONLINE, NOW WHAT HAPPENS?
We encourage customers to go by the old, sacred adage: “Buy antiques when you see them!” We all have had that sinking feeling when we hesitated, only to find some villain walking away with what we thought would still be there when we got back. Items will remain in your cart for a limited time after you leave the site. Since shipping is handled separately, we recommend purchasing your item(s) first to ensure they will be yours, and we will contact you about shipping afterwards. In general, we will either generate an invoice directly for shipping from the gallery or we will put you in-touch with one of our shipping partners.
WHAT IF I PLACE AN ORDER FOR SOMETHING ALREADY SOLD?
While we have made every effort to prevent this from happening, the rare occasion might arise when you place an order for an item that has already been sold. In this unlikely event, we will contact you by e-mail within one business day and you will receive an immediate refund.
DAMAGE AND RETURNS
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY SHIPMENT IS DAMAGED?
Our shipping services include insurance where possible and damage claims are handled through the normal claims process of the handler. Please inspect your purchase immediately upon receipt. DO NOT THROW AWAY any packaging materials when this occurs. We will assist in any way to see through your claim with the shipper.
WHAT ABOUT MECHANICAL ITEMS?
Mechanical items are tricky. Unfortunately, we cannot control what might happen in shipping with complex mechanical devices. Any items described as functioning could be affected by transit conditions. As an example, a coin-operated slot machine might work smoothly when it leaves the gallery, but might require an adjustment when it arrives to you from the shipping company. These things happen and in general, are easily corrected with a small adjustment. This is a separate issue from direct damage due to mishandling or accident. Unless there is verifiable damage due to mishandling, mechanical devices cannot be guaranteed to not require adjustments after they leave our warehouse.
DO YOU OFFER RESTORATION SERVICES?
We personally do not. However, we do have restoration partners we work with and will help you with any special requests you might have.
DO YOU TAKE RETURNS?
We encourage you to ask questions before your purchase and we will be happy to answer them. Unless an item is proven to have been described incorrectly, all sales are final. In special circumstances, we will consider returns. These must be approved in advance. Any items returned must be accompanied by a receipt and can be subject to a 25% re-stocking fee. Shipping charges are non-refundable.

Peekaboo Gallery reserves the rights to all photos that appear on our site of items for sale. These will remain in our sold item archives and any rights to use of these photos shall be given upon request.
